Adrian Olabuenaga

Born in 1955, designer and businessman in Maui, Hawaii/USA.

Raised with an architectural background, he has, from a young age, been inspired by architecture, design and art. Primarily working in a medium of functional art, his first solo show featured his famous Art Radios and furniture. In 1985, he formed ACME Studios with Lesley Bailey. From Maui he continues to design and collaborate with the best in their respective fields, for example, with Ettore Sottsass he created the jewellery collection by MEMPHIS designers; and his famous collection of Acme Writing Tools.

His milk glass quotes the grand tradition of American art: pop art. The message looks like a commercial design with his glass appearing as an ironically exaggerated invitation to consume – similar to those encountered on drink cans and washing powders. Enjoy!
