Ambrogio Pozzi Born 1931 in Varese.
Works as a designer in Gallarate. Ambrogio Pozzi’s first customers came to him while he was working at his
parents’ ceramics company in Gallarate, where he gave the company’s
traditional products new forms that have since been showered with
awards. Since 1954, Pozzi’s ceramics have had a regular place at the
Triennale in Milan, where they have been winning prizes for decades. He
has won a number of ›Compassi d’Oro‹, the most important design award in
Italy, and has even taken to the air with his designs for new cups and
plates for Alitalia. Pozzi has since opened his own design studio, where
he has created designs for such renowned firms as Rosenthal, Guzzini,
Thomas and Riedel. Thanks to countless awards and exhibitions such as
those in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris,
he has become one of the most sought after designers working with
porcelain and glass. His designs for Milk open a dialogue between two
characters: “He and she or (why not?) the self and the not-self,
sometimes connected by the whiteness of the milk, sometimes separated; a
conversation that is resumed with every sip until it finally dries up; a
game with milk, which begins anew every morning”. Thus Pozzi tells a
story about his design, a story about the magic of milk and its
whiteness: “Milk is not white, it is milk-white, which means the best,
most charming white, the sexiest of all the various shades of white”.
